With the adoption of the REVISED Oklahoma Academic Standards for Personal Financial Literacy, it continues to be the priority of the Oklahoma State Department of Education to ensure that all Oklahoma educators are provided with the opportunity to deeply understand the intent of the standards, while supporting educators with resources that promote effective implementation of the standards.
For this Framework, a writing team of experienced Oklahoma educators has analyzed the standards' learning objectives and has provided guidance for focus, instructional ideas, and resource recommendations. For each standard's objectives, the Personal Financial Literacy Framework provides an Objective Analysis, which includes a brief summary of the objective and key concepts. In addition, the Objective Analysis provides examples of Teacher and Student Actions, which provide a "snapshot" of effective teaching and learning in the PFL classroom.
The writing team has also researched and identified the highest quality of lesson plans, instructional resources, interactive activities, and engaging instructional strategies correlated to Oklahoma's standards. Of special note are suggested formative and summative assessments for each standard and objective, measuring student progress through a variety of formats and assessment approaches.
All resources in this Framework are provided as samples to support ambitious teaching and learning in the PFL classroom. Such recommendations are not intended as an exhaustive listing of instructional resources, but merely represent suggestions from reliable sources in the field of personal finance education.
